In the premiere, we learned that Mare (KateWinslet) is feeling the heat after failing to solve the year-old disappearance of a young local woman named Katie Bailey. Then, on the first anniversary of Katie’s vanishing, another girl turns up dead: Erin (CaileeSpaeny), who was raising her 1-year-old son, DJ, with her unsupportive boyfriend, Dylan (JackMulhern) while also dealing with her abusive father, Kenny (PatrickMurney). (Side question: Is life easy for anyone in Delco?)
Did Frank kill or date Erin on Mare of Easttown?
So, what does Erin have to do with Frank (DavidDenman)? For starters, Frank, who works as a local high school teacher, briefly had Erin as one of his algebra students; he tells Mare that although he didn’t know Erin well (she was a “quiet girl,” he explains), he “got the feeling that things weren’t good at home” for her, even if he can’t (or decides not to) elaborate with any details. It’s just “a sense,” he tells Mare cryptically. (Mare, for her part, has only been able to surmise so far that Erin and her killer knew each other; judging by the marks her body bears, she was attacked head-on rather than from behind.) But the big shocker comes when Erin’s BFF Jess (Ruby Cruz), reveals that Dylan wasn’t DJ’s read dad—and hints that Frank might actually be the baby daddy! That storyline will apparently get more play in Episode 3, judging by this trailer for next week’s installment. (Check out when Mare tells her daughter Siobhan that Frank “lied to me,” to which Frank yells back, “Where’d you even hear crap like that anyway?”) For what it’s worth, Frank is also a recently and happily engaged man, but maybe that’s just a cover for his two-faced tendencies? Some Twitter users believe he could be the killer.
Who plays Frank on Mare of Easttown?
Another mystery you may be trying to solve about Frank: Where have you seen that guy before? If the actor portraying Frank seems vaguely familiar, it may be because he previously played Pam Beesly’s ex-fiancé, Roy, on The Office—who, now that we think about it, does have a history of attacking people… Miss The Office?
